Music at Charterhouse

The Ralph Vaughan Williams Music Centre has two performance rooms and 10 practise rooms. There are another 15 practice rooms with piano.  The Memorial Chapel houses a Harrison and Harrison organ (c1930, 3 manuals and pedals 34 stops) and can seat 700 people. The main chamber music concert series will be held in the Hall which houses a Steinway piano and has a superb acoustic.

Founded in 1611, Charterhouse is one of the UK’s leading independent boarding and day school, providing an outstanding education for boys and girls aged 13 to 18.


The accommodation will be provided in two of Charterhouse’s attractive, non-smoking Boarding Houses, with ensuite bedrooms. There are communal lounge areas and small kitchens available with tea and coffee-making facilities. Meals are provided in the separate Dining Room complex and special diets are catered for provided at least 10 days notice has been given to the organisers.Bed linen is provided and some twin rooms are available. Please note that towels and soap are not provided. Some rooms have facilities for the disabled, please discuss your requirements with us when making the booking.
